This book, created by Friends of Sligo Gaol, follows the story of a young Sligo girl in the 1800’s who came to be imprisoned in Sligo Gaol and her perilous journey to freedom. Although focussed on one girl, this book tells the story of thousands, perhaps millions of the down-trodden who, over centuries, have struggled against poverty, misrule and injustice, and who have crossed oceans in search of a hopeful future.
