Description
This comic style book tells the story of Kathleen Lynn, one of the first female medical doctors to qualify in Ireland. As a young woman at the turn of the 20th Century, she became involved in the suffrage movement, Cumann na Mbann and James Connoly’s Irish Socialist Party. She served as Chief Medical Officer for the Irish Citizen Army during the 1916 Rising, she saw active service in City Hall Dublin, and spent time in prison, on the run and was deported. She was elected to the first Dáil as a member of Sinn Féin, and founded St Ultan’s Hospital for Infants in 1919.
This charming ‘comic’ tells her story in a wonderful and accessible way.
